Information for parents who are new to Troop 463

TroopWebHost

The troop uses TroopWebHost to manage our calendar and troop communications. It’s critical that all scouts are able to login to TroopWebHost. TroopWebHost can automatically handle sending emails to the necessary parties, for example. Scouts and adults should use TroopWebHost to RSVP to events.

Scoutbook

The troop uses Scoutbook to track advancement. It’s critical that all scouts are able to login to scoutbook and are doing so to update their requirements. This is achieved by using the same login as for https://my.scouting.org.

Calendar

The troop tracks its calendar using TroopWebHost. Syncing the troop calendar allows troop events to appear directly in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook.

To subscribe to the Troop Calendar, go to TroopWebHost:

  1. Log in via web browser and navigate to My Stuff > Subscribe To Calendar.

  2. Copy the provided ICS Calendar Link / URL.

  3. Open your personal calendar app (e.g., Google Calendar or Apple Calendar):

    • Google Calendar: Click the + next to “Other calendars” > select From URL > paste the link.

    • Apple / iOS Calendar: Go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts > Add Account > Other > Add Subscribed Calendar > paste the link.

Verification: Open your personal calendar app and confirm that troop events are appearing on your schedule.

Communication platforms

Discord

All scouts are encouraged to get Discord access for communication. Sign up here https://discord.com/ . For scouts under 13, they need to use an account managed by their parent. To do this, use an email account managed by a parent and sign up for your scout. Contact Debbie to be invited to the troop.

WhatsApp

There is a Troop 463 Parents WhatsApp group primarily for coordinating pickup/dropoffs on outing days. The group admins are Debbie, Kasuen, Lalit, Sarit.

SmugMug

The troop stores its event photos on SmugMug. Contact Monty for access.
